Meditation
The breath is a vital component for living, and many of us without even realizing, tend to breathe in a shallow fashion. Becoming more aware of the breath automatically has us breathing more deeply, ensuring a sufficient flow of oxygen enters the body. As a result a person not only feels more relaxed, but comes back to the present moment. Try it for yourself and notice that when you become aware of the breath, you instantly take a deep breath - it is automatic!
In my sessions(both with the general public and within corporate/school environments) I teach the art of breathing, through exercises and guided meditation.
This practice can assist with relieving stress, therefore achieving clarity of mind, an increase in vitality, and a sense of balance and well-being.
Try this exercise right now - Go ahead and take a deep breath. Take in as much air as you possibly can and hold to the count of four, then let out all the breath. Notice how your body feels. Do three more rounds, remembering to hold to the count of four on the in breath. Deep breathing can clear the mind and relax you in seconds! You don’t need to sit in lotus position to meditate. You can stop and breathe anywhere…anytime. First thing in the morning is great or at the end of the day. Start off with 5 mins if that is all the time you have, and build it up from there. It gets addictive after making it a daily practice because you will feel the benefits.
